Telemedicine & Patient Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 August 2026
1. Regulatory framework
All consultations on AYU-SMART are conducted by verified BAMS / MD-Ayurveda practitioners with valid council registration. Telemedicine consultations strictly follow the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020 issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, in conjunction with the Board of Ethics & Registration of the National Medical Commission. E-prescriptions are issued only after a verbal or video interaction with the patient.
2. Patient consent
By booking a consultation and uploading records you provide informed consent for the treating Vaidya to access your health profile and records for the limited purpose of clinical care. You may withdraw this consent at any time from your My Health dashboard, after which doctors will lose access to the records.
3. Data handling under DPDP Act 2023
- All medical records, prescriptions and SOAP notes are encrypted at rest.
- Files are served only via short-lived signed URLs — no public direct links.
- Records are visible only to: (a) you, (b) the doctor actively treating you, and (c) AYU-SMART compliance administrators for audit purposes.
- We do not sell or share your health data with advertisers, insurers, or third parties.
- You may request export or deletion of your data at any time by writing to privacy@ayusmart.in.
4. Doctor verification & ethics
Every doctor on the network is verified against State Council / Central Council of Indian Medicine registers before going live. Partner payouts to doctors are structured as fair compensation for verified clinical engagement and are not inducements for prescription. Prescribing decisions remain solely in the patient's clinical interest. AYU-SMART reserves the right to suspend any practitioner on grounds of ethics, compliance, or fraud.
5. Scope and limitations
Telemedicine consultations on AYU-SMART are best suited for general wellness, follow-ups, chronic care management, and Ayurvedic lifestyle guidance. They are not a substitute for emergency care. In any emergency, please call your nearest hospital or dial 112.
6. Records retention
Consultation notes and e-prescriptions are retained for a minimum of three (3) years from the date of the consultation, as required by the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines.
